Meet Inspector Hieronymus
Painting Revealed.
I have written about the application “Brushes!” in my blog any number of times. It’s getting quite a bit of publicity of late, particularly after the May 25 edition of the New Yorker was painted using the iPhone app. The most recent version of Brushes! allows you to create a movie that shows every stroke used to paint an image. Every time I stroke the touch-screen of my phone, the app remembers it, and then can play it back, and even render out a movie of it. This is the movie of me painting an image I call “Foggy Night.” Foggy Night was inspired by the City i love.
I dug up an old audio file of a song I wrote, oh, 20 years ago or so, because it happened to be the same length as the movie generated by Brushes!
Enjoy!
Our New Film Noir Occult Detective Short Premieres on DoorQ.com
DexFX.com is owned and produced by Dex Craig, a media production guy who lives in San Francisco with his husband (at least we think we’re married, but with politics as they are, who knows if that’s still valid?) and a menagerie of hyperactive stuffed animals. All material on this site is protected under copyright. Much of it is released under Creative Commons, some is not. If you’re interested in using any of this material, get in touch with me. You can send an e-mail here.
New Eggshelland Trailer:
Eggshelland is a documentary about a wonderfully odd family in Ohio who come together every year to produce an amazing display of hand-painted eggshells. Christopher Noice followed the family for a year to make this fabulous story, and I composed the score for it.
This is the second trailer Chris has released for the movie, and it includes a much wider selection of music pieces I created for the film. It does a great job of capturing the overall awesomeness of the movie.
Eggshelland has been submitted to a number of festivals. When word of showings arrive, I’ll announce them here.
Inspector Hieronymus and the Case of the Mischievous Houseboy is the newest short film produced by HomoMech Pictures, the production company name my husband and I work under. The movie introduces audiences to Nathaniel Hieronymus, a hard-boiled detective who is the person you come to if your problems are a little out of the ordinary. Your new apartment haunted? Call the Inspector. Your gallery full of fabulous gay art been replaced mysteriously by images of one man? Call the Inspector....
We’ve had some great response to the character, and folks wanting to see more, so we’re working on a second adventure for the good Inspector. We’ll be blogging about its progress on our production site (www.homomech.com), and I’ll also be posting on my own blog (the link is on the left of this page). Please subscribe to our blogs and comment! Let us know what you think about the short, the direction we’re taking the character in, the props you’ll be seeing under construction and more.
You can watch the short in the window above, or go to YouTube to see it in High Definition, or watch it on DoorQ to join in on the comments people post there.
NightFall available on Vimeo
I created NightFall shortly after getting a Canon HV30 high-definition camcorder to test its capacities in low light, to get familiar with the camera’s operation, and to test how well my Mac would handle editing high-definition video. I posted the results on Vimeo, a very nice hosting service. If you click through to Vimeo, you can watch this in high-definition, and even download a copy for your use. The movie is released under creative commons, so you can use the footage and music in your own non-commercial productions..
